Lol, I should be knowledgable about this, studying US politics for yr13 politics class. But I have little relevant information off of the top of my head :P

A controversial part was a speech by Clinton I believe, in which she compared herself to Johnson (I think) and Obama to M L King, Johnson was a do-er, King was a dreamer. apparently it lost her a lot of votes :P

also many go to Clintons speeches just cos' Billy will be there lol

sadly, my coverage of the US elections has been derived almost entirely from the onion.

but from what I can pick up from hasty glances at morning papers, I was going with Obama, but if we are headed for recession, I'd rather have who I think is most intelligent; and that's Hillary.

As far as the republicans go, having a mormon or a creationist as the most powerful man in the free world cannot be a good thing.

Let's be positive shall we.

Bill Clinton enhanced a dress IMO.
Bush enhanced a few oily pockets.

Frankly, who cares who gets in. Nobody has any way of knowing which candidate has the best policies, because they dont even discuss them. Blue is right on the money about the whole thing being a popularity contest, and whenever you hear any of them (clinton, obama, mccain) talk, its not policy, its just words like 'freedom' and 'change' minced into sentences about how great America is.

besides, the only way is up, lets just be happy that US presidents can only run for 2 terms :)

I've heard/seen speeches from everyone of these candidates and they all seem to possess  a very annoying trait that politicians (especially the American ones have) and that is that they talk a lot without really saying ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw McCain the other day and thought to myself that "this guy couldn't get elected here....no way", he wouldn't even make it as the candidate for his party.....

Its a sad state of affairs ......

In all honesty I can tell you that the last thing this election will be is a popularity contest. America is actually quite fed up with the Bush administration (in case you haven't checked out his approval ratings). For once we have choices. Since the Bush family took over the world they have ruined the reputation of the U.S., managed to single handedly slow down a booming economy, and invade what seems to be every oil rich third world country.
John McCain is a credible and honorable war veteran but god forbid he become president. If he does we may never see an end to the worthless Iraq war. American's are sick of watching their sons and daughters die for the Bush administration and because of that I think McCain will have a difficult time getting elected.
Hillary Clinton would be a good leader but I think the Bill Clinton card plays against her.
Obama is exactly what America needs. For once we might actually elect an individual who is in touch with working class America. He's young, energetic, smart, and he inspires people with his speeches. If anyone has the ability to turn things around, it would be him.
Well, that was my two cents.  :D

Has Obama any policies behind his 'change' message?  If so when will he tell people about them.  I can't believe that anyone really thinks that anything in Washington will change regardless of who is President.  There are too many fat cats with a lot of control who will put their own self interests first.

Before I vote for someone, I would like to know what they are going to change and what exactly they propose changing it to.  Being young, energetic and smart doesn't help when you have the weight of Congress and the Senate pushing back.  It looks like whoever gets in will have a pretty even split in the houses, so it will be even harder to make changes.

Of course everyone should cheer whoever gets in, because George Bush will be out, but no one will be able to withdraw the troops from Iraq for a long time.  America went in there and screwed everything up, and unfortunately if they withdraw and leave the mess it is at the moment, the US reputation will suffer even more than it is at present.  Look at Afghanistan - there is no sign of getting out of there and there is full NATO and UN backing to supply additional forces.

Funny story: Hillary chose 'When The Lady Smiles' by the Golden Earring as her campaign tune. She got alot of flack for that because, in the video, the singer kisses a nun. Only in America can bible thumping rednecks go berserk over something futile like that.

French politic system has loads of other flaws and i'll never say it's better than another, but that's exactly because of stuffs like that that i'm happy to live in fvckin' LAIQUE, religious-free country.
It's just common sense: politic and religion don't or shouldn't mix (there's a french funny expression that sits well here: "or it's an opened door to every window")
Yet only 2 country in the world have separated Church and State!!.... But then again, i often hear France being called, the Last Communist Country...
