Pickup upgrade - final thoughts before I take the plunge
« on: February 08, 2008, 09:49:32 PM »
I have one last question to ask before I decide on ordering a set of BK Apaches. Will I notice a big difference in tone between the stock pickups on a '57 USA reissue strat and the Apaches? Might sound like a stoopid question but would like to hear from anyone who has done a similar change!

Cheers.

I would think so Ian but it is difficult as it is a subjective thing. I did notice the difference immediately-the tone was richer.Personally I have never looked back with mine. As time has gone by I have grown fonder of them.

Ask Tim.

5 minutes and you know you answer if you ring him.

"Oh, no thanks, I don't eat fruit."

If you are replacing like with like then the differences are going to be limited to tonal quality and versatility.

Since BK's reputation is built on tonal quality and versatility I don't think you have any worries. It's not a question of will they be better, yes they will, it's a question of are these the right set of BK's for what I'm after.

I'm sure you'll love them.

Cheers for the replies - they do it for me. I'm not looking for something completely different - just something that adds a bit of extra life to the guitar but keeps those strat tones coming. Acoustically the guitar sounds good but often sounds muffled when playing with my band.

Hopefully should have them within the next month.

Thanks again.
