Swapping a nailbomb for...?

I got a Nailbomb bridge in my LP clone (mahogany body and neck, maple top and rosewood fretboard) and I find it a bit too aggressive for my liking. It sounds great, but to me the Nailbomb keeps it's aggressive character even when I roll the volume way back. I guess it's just not my style as I mostly play a great varity of rock, but no real metal.

So I'm looking for a pickup that's a tad less aggressive than the Nailbomb and will give a sweeter tone when the volume is rolled back. What would you suggest?

I must say that the idea of a Black Dog/Mule combo appeals me. So do the Holy Diver, but I'm worried it might still be a bit overkill for my taste.

I would suggest that the Holy Diver would fit the bill nicely.  Cleans up nicely when you roll back the volume pot.

The Black/Dog Mule combo will bring you closer to Jimmy Page kinda tones, if you play mostly classic rock.

I'd also suggest Rebel Yells, very versatile hot paf pickups. A bit in the VH2 league, but with more compression and output (which I dig).

Holydivers might be too bass heavy and too smooth for what you want, especially in a LP with a rosewood fretboard. To my opinion it's definately more of an 80's metal pickup. Cold Sweat for 80's hardrock, but you might not like the ceramic magnet.

I'm tempted by the Crawler as it packs some punch and people often describe it as fat and sweet sounding. I have both in Les Pauls. The Crawler is much sweeter and rounder in the high end.   The Crawler is kind of a no brainer in that there's nothing not to like. How can you go wrong with a PAF on steroids. The low end is not as percussive as some pickups. It's a fat balanced sounding pup except for the rounder high end or treble response.


The Rebel Yell is more compressed with more pronounced upper mids and high end and a tad less bass than the Crawler.  The Rebel Yell has a very 'exciting' upper mid sound that inspires me to go off in my playing. Hard to really put into words.
Billy Idols' SCREAM and RAT RACE display the tones quite nicely, IMHO.
