Digitech Whammy 4 - Any Good?
« on: February 29, 2008, 09:19:52 AM »
Just bought myself a Whammy 4; and have to say its total pants (prob should have tried one first before buying of ebay!)

I'm not a total tone purist and I dont mind a few buffered pedals in my chain; and to be quite honest I prob wouldnt be able to notice any minor loss of top end; but this thing sucks tone (and the mojo) like you wouldnt believe.

I'm finding it pretty unusable and though my mini pog is much more limited from a versatility perspetive it to seems to deliver much better tracking and an analogue sounding octave.

Any one else got any thoughts or had any experiences (pos/neg) re: this pedal?

It's a known fact the bypass on those is cr@p, but they are true bypass modable I believe or maybe it was the earlier WH1 I don't remember. Anyway, just get a cheap true bypass loop and be done with it :)

haha what were you expecting from a pedal that use a 15 years old DSP and AD/DA converter? It's part of its sound, if you don't like it, it's not for you :)

I had a Whammy WH-4 and sold it to get an original WH-1 with an Analogman true bypass mod, then sold that.  I then bought another original and use it now with a Keeley looper pedal.  The WH-4 aren't being modded - I would get a true bypass box.  Where are you using it in your chain?
