Went to Feline to get a PK & CS fitted to my new King-V. While I was there I noticed that he had an open-poled Warpig in stock.
"Hmmm" I thought,
"I can find a home for that" so I bought it & stuck it in my Gibson Gothic V.
It's VERY powerful. The sound is so heavy & fluid, yet clear. Drop-tuned riffage is absolutely monstrous & my high gain channel sounds even more saturated now  However, you can get a surprisingly useable clean sound out of a Warpig without needing to roll off the volume - the amp sounds like it is being driven hard, but it's not in any way harsh.
Comparisons with my other guitars are pointless as I keep this guitar tuned to C/drop-Bb with 13-62 gauge strings fitted (everything else is in Eb with 10s or 10-52s). It's a
beast - if I'm going to keep this tuning/string gauge, then I need to get a new nut fitted & a decent setup as the action is painfully high  but freed of its microphonic Gibson vileness, it sounds really good & is fun to play  Warpig is the perfect pickup for an "over the top" guitar...
Yes, there will be clips. I just need to work with the local constabulary to set up a safe exclusion zone around my house first... :)
BTW, the Gothic V is listed in
Seconds Out but if anyone wants it, the price is now £450 (on account of the £99 pickup I've installed in it since). Actually, I'm not convinced that I'd sell it anymore....
