Oops, I did it again...

Dammit, I've just read all 11 pages of this thread, and it hasn't done my PRS GAS one single bit of good. Admittedly I'm GASing for something a bit more flashy (Tremonti Sig) but all the PRS quality and tone-related talk is killing me.

Been thinking - a Korina Mira with Soapbars would be killer!

A big YES to the korina, a big NO to the soapbars!

I know this makes no sense - I love a single P-90 on a guitar, but I don't like two of them.  I don't know if it's because they sound too similar to each other, or simply because a single-pickup Junior is just so perfect.  :?   It's taken me no less than four dual P-90 guitars to come to this conclusion.  I'm a slow learner.

Ultimately, that's the main reason I'm selling my Pete Townshend SG.

Well
I always tought that you could DON'T play with the 2nd pickup, in this case... So why sell them?

It's just a psychological thing - if the second pickup's there I can't resist flicking to it.  But it's always a disappointment.

talking of single P90 guitars and PRS's I just caught a glimpse of an add in the Guitar mag. a company called Guitar Slinger is moving location and selling off everything.

The add has a new PRS SE ONE for £285!! very tempted.

Also for all those home amp forum questions posted recently they are doing the Line 6 spider valve for £359 and fender superchamp for £169 bargains...again new

Not sure when im going to get time to go and try one... they'll prob sell all the remaining stock before i get a chance! GAS!

All the PRS SE's get really good press. I haven't tried the ONE, but I have tried a few of the others and for the price they are great IMO,  especially if you swap out the electrics which is the one bit where you can hear and feel the budget nature of the guitars. Even with out doing that they are damn good for the price.

^That is all true, but there are a few other things to be aware of. The tuners aren't great, and if you're used to high quality, accurate tuners, they'll drive you insane.
Feel and finish-wise, they are pretty good. The only real issue is the fretwire, which is very soft, meaning it will wear quickly. On mine (an SE Singlecut, which now sports Holy Divers), the fretwork wasn't wonderful either, which meant it needed about £35 worth of fret-levelling.
Very good guitars though, especially for the price some places are letting them go for.

Well!
I'll think about... Because the price goes on with a good electronic, locking tuners, new frets... (anybody knows a good place to buy Stainless Steel frets, in 6105/jumbo size??)

My biggest gripe about the SE One is the lack of a tone control.  I know it's meant to be a really simple guitar, but even LP Jrs have tone controls.

And +1 on the tuners, they're really not very good.  Which is a false economy, because decent non-locking tuners aren't all that expensive.

The biggest problem/solution (first for US, second for COMPANIES) is think not about ONE guitar, but in TEN THOUSANDS guitars....

That's why Gibson does the short tenon, instead of the famous '59 long tenon (or bigger) and the SG is not neck-thru-body...
In a big sum, pennys goes big value!
