I just put together a new demo of my AC30HH, showing it's clean tones. I don't really play clean, to be honest, but I get a number of requests to do clean tone demos. So, anyway, here it is - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJPqgjz2bl4 . please remember it's on a Les Paul. I don't own a guitar with single coils. :oops:

I really liked that clip and also your 'dirty tones' clip on the same amp.

Excellent tone and playing and also very well recorded.

Interested to know how dirty it can get... I'd guess it's not a particularly high gain affair?

You're right, no high gain available at all from the amp really. On my dirty youtube clip the solo line that comes in at 0:29 is the EF86 chanel maxxed out. The slightly fuzz-like line that comes in at 0:57 is the TB channel maxxed out.
Personally, I don't really like the amp's tones when it is getting anywhere near it's max gain. Somewhere between 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock on the dials is where the real goodness lies. Any higher gain sounds can be much better achieved by boosting with pedals, IMO. The AC30 can be a bit fussier than some amps with drive pedals, but I've certainly found a few that it likes.

THanks Tom, I just miked my cab, through my small Behringer mixer, into my PC, straight into Cubase SE3.
Drums and bass guitar are just virtual MIDI instruments, programmed by myself, all into Cubase. The various guitar parts were laid down separately (obviously), again using Cubase to multitrack.
Mixing in cubase, mastering in Wavelab lite, and Bob's your uncle - Voila !

the "brilliance" and "bass shift" controls are for the EF86 channel only, and are basically EQ controls. The bass shift gives you a bass boost in one position. The brilliance provides 3 different EQ shapes to choose from. I think they seem to be well chosen. I'd prefer the standard TMB controls, to be honest, but these are pretty flexible in real-life useage (so long as you like the fruity mids of the EF86 channel).

The triode/pentode setting is for the power amp. The pentode is "normal" EL84 function giving the normal 30 Watt power amp. The triode setting is a low power setting for the power amp (approximately 15 Watts). personally, I use the triode setting mostly, and think that it is very similar in tone to the pentode setting. It's nice to know I've got the pentode setting in "reserve" for when I need it, though. You can still get painfully loud with the triode setting !
