Sustainers...

I came across this yesterday...
http://www.videoguitarlessons.com/product_lesson_show.asp?product_lesson_id=2760

I've never heard of a sustainer before, and have been infatuated with it since I discovered it yesterday.  They sound pretty cool.  I've searched and found some guitars that come with it stock, like the Dinky dk-2s and some Fernandes models.  I also dug up some old threads on it too...

Blue, did you ever get that Fernandes kit installed:
http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7312  If so, What do you think of it?
Feline: Did you ever offer them?  Has anyone requested on from you?

And then, oddly enough, the day of my new discovery, it shows itself again here: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12106

I've located this one: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=2532987 , and may try to get my grubby hands on it, thuogh I think he's asking a titch much for it, but it does look to be in excellent shape.  I really like the looks of it, and would probably want it even without the sustainer!!!

I've always wanted a sustainer too. I remember seeing a video clip by Reeves Gabriels demoing a Fernandes and it was just unreal and that was with a hard tail. With a floyd it would be mental!

I used to have one in a Fernandes and it was a lot of fun, not particularly toneful however and required serious EQ'ing to remove the tinny sound.

A lot of big names use/used them including EVH and Vai.

I believe Ed uses something similar on this:

I wanted one... until I realised that if the battery runs out, it takes the bridge pickup completely out of action too.

I think it's the sort of gimmick that I want... but wouldn't use more than once or twice a set.

Ah now that sounds better, I think the standard wiring for the Fernandes might do though.

The PC is the Phil Collen signature models isn't it? Very fit.
