Cost breaks down as thus:

3-way mic stand converter : £4.99

Prosonic YU37 : £24.99

Mic - Line voltage converter : £24.99

YOGA L84AR : £29.99

Using a £7.00 off voucher made it come in at £77.96

The mic stand I had from before and the Denon cost £10 as I said.

It was recorded direct into the Denon and then sent out to Audacity via phono using the line in input of the computer.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

Can anyone hear a weird sound on the last 3 clips?

I just had a listen to the mp3s on my computer and something is definitely up with them on my end.

I'll have a go at reposting them in .wav.

EDIT .wav isn't working right, sorry.

EDIT 2 There isn't a problem. My headphones are dodgy is all.

I know this is off topic but I just had to show this....

 :!: Hey :!:

Was that some dig at my mic placement?

I'll have you know that I had to stand behind that microphone and I had less than a square foot of space around me (hence you can hear the guitar more than the amp when I start going for it with the pick) !

This was my first attempt at recording at home.

I think a good move would be to get a passive mixer so I can attenuate the mics before the stereo preamp boosts it so high  .

The clips had a good core to it, I guess its just not the usual type of mic'ing that we are used to hearing.

That picture didn't humour me too much :( my friend convinced that the speaker in his AVT150 head was broken already removed all funniness from that :P

This was mainly as a quick fix rather than a proper set up.

I've gotten a twin channel (2 in stereo) mixer for a tenner yesterday so that should help with my mic placement problems. I think I need to sort out the fuse though as I set my power supply to the 9V AC it needs and it is actually outputting nearer 11 (that's one louder! .) so it blew the fuse.

I'm thinking of getting a Blackstar HT pedal and using the direct output along with the mic setup to get a really massive boosted sound (even if I have to resolder the direct jack to do it). Is this a good idea?

I'd have to set it up again for another recording so I might do it over thursday/friday as I'm on study leave after tomorrow and the house would be reasonably free and I might just have the blackstar if I like it when I try it.

Cheers.

I do suppose I should get my own image hosting account at some point though...
