pickup choice for old Slayer sound?
« on: May 10, 2008, 06:14:50 PM »
Hello,

Which Bare Knuckle bridge humbucker would be good for getting that old Slayer sound?  I mean BEFORE King and Hanneman started using EMG's, like on the albums Show No Mercy, Haunting the Chapel, Live Undead, and Hell Awaits.

While we're at it, what about a matching neck humbucker?  The Cold Sweat looks interesting.

Thanks

+1, after all it is ...

Faster than a laser bullet, Louder than an atom bomb
Chromium plated boiling metal, Brighter than a thousand suns

&c.
So it should be chrome plated too :)

Cold Sweat always seems to please in the neck, especially if you are a shredder!

[edit] some info on guitar and rig might get you some advice not based around Judas Priest lyrics, although I still stand by the PK as the pup for you!

[edit2] And welcome to the forum too :)
