Yet another "What Pickups" question
« on: May 25, 2008, 12:11:06 PM »
Hi.
I found this site whilst reading though the notes on the back of "Framing Armageddon"
I listened to a lot of clips and I’m very impressed buy the amazing quality of the pickups (and playing).

I like to play classic metal (iced earth, iron maiden ect.) And I’m looking for that great tone that can be found on FA.
I'm guessing Nailbombs, but any other suggestion would be helpful.
And I’m also looking at a great lead pickup, something that could echo the tone of Gus g of Firewind (but not completely copy)

I have a Ibanez RG07LTD with a basewood body.

I'm poor at the moment so I can only really afford one set of pickups.

Digitech Death metal (Selling PM for details)

Cold Sweats are awesome for leads, and Twilight recommended them (or VHIIs) for Iron Maiden stuff, (Number of the Beast, etc.)

Don't worry about only affording one set, you'll probably buy less of something to buy more BKPs once you've tried one set. :D

In basswood, I'd say Nailbombs is the way to go. Great "cut" for the peercussive rythms and sings really well for leads.

im thinking of buying a rg1570 and thinking what pups aswell. I also play anything from T rex upto megadeth with iron maiden in cluded. I know the warpigs are meant to sound huge for rhythm, but what about lead?

The Pigs sound great for leads, but it's really not the sound you described. The three bands mentioned would point you towards Painkiller or Nailbomb.
