Shielding/ground loops

I’m in the process of shielding my tele following the methods shown on  http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/shielding/tele.php.

My question is…

 my tele has a P-90 in the neck position which has braided wire coming from it, if either the braided wire or the screws that hold the P-90 in place come in contact with the copper shielding in the cavity will this cause a ground loop?

No, I don't think so.  If it comes into contact with the shielding (and therefore with ground) I don't think it'll do any harm at all.

I can't claim to be any kind of expert, but I think they're a bit obsessive about ground loops in that article.  It's not a problem I've ever encountered.

if it is causing an issue just get some heat shrink tubing to put over the braided wire

I can't imagine ground loops ever being a problem in a guitar, there just isn't enough ground current imo. Now when connecting two amps together, that's a different story.

nah, they can be an issue - a really annoying one sometimes

The problem will come if the braid touches a switch lug or something, then it will short. I had the same problem when having a braided MQ in the neck of my tele, ended up gaffa taping the length of the cable...
