Ooh interesting, never heard of these guys before.  In what way is it different to the reissue Celestion G12M?

Cool! I like the fact that they do high powered versions which I see that you have opted for. I'd love a pair of those in a 2x12 then you wouldnt have to worry about power handling. Couldnt do that with regular greenbacks. I'll look forward to the review!

Love Scumback M75's !!   In the whole world, the only speaker I like better is the H75 !!

Top class speaker although I think your Iso-Cab looks a bit cheap and nasty,
it looks like it's made of cardboard!

Scumbacks are made by Weber for the guy that runs Scumback.  Apparently he bought loads of old Celestions and got Weber to match the cream of his old Celestions in tone.

Now he's expanded the range a bit to offer the same tone as the heavy magnet 30w speakers with a higher power rating.

They're supposed to be pretty tasty.  If I was in the market for some new speakers, I'd probably go with some of those.

Ooooh, there's been a lot of talk about scumbacks for a while, but I guess mostly on the US forums for obvious reasons. I'd certainly be very interested to hear how these puppies stack up against your other speakers!

One of those in an isolation cab? SEX!

I've been through most of the Celestion line, and also have Scumback M75 (greenback clone) and H75 (G12H30 clone) speakers. IMO, they are special. In particular the H75, which is my personal favourite. The Scumbacks have that magic quality of being able to produce just the right amount of treble and cut, but with absolutely no harshness at all. The mids  in the H75 are also very sweet (very noticeably more mids than Celstion's current G12H-30's, which are really quite a mid-scooped speaker).
I still like Celestion's current Greenback. Even though it is made in China - it's still a really good speaker IMO. Celestion's V30 is also another beaut of a speaker - if it fits your application of course.
For me, in the future, if I want greenback tone, I'll buy Celestion as the extra cost of the Scumbacks isn't worth it for me. If I want H30 tone, I'll definately go for Scumbacks though.

One of the other huge benefits of the Scumback line is that they do higher power ratings for these speakers (65W and 100W), which IMO sound near identical to the lower power ones.

Of course this is all hugely subjective, and over the years I have learned that an awful lot of people don't like what my idea of good tone is.

The problem with the current Celestions is the cone, they use whatever cone is sourced out in China, whereas the UK-made ones would always use Kurt Mueller cones.

I just get old blown Celestions - the frames are sturdier on the old ones and I'd imagine there is a difference with the actual magnet too.  Recones once you get postage in there generally run around £40 per speaker, but the results are better than any current production Celestion and pretty much identical to all my vintage Celestions.

fwiw, I only ever use bass cone (55Hz) G12H-30s and on the odd occasion bass cone (55Hz) G12M-25s if I want more of a compressed tone with some cone cry.

Ha, it takes all sorts !!   I had a mint '78 1982 cab with a quad of the 55Hz Blackback H30's in.  For my ears, they were the worst speakers I've ever heard !!  I truly hated them.  Sure sold them for a lot of money though !!
