Riff Raff doing UFO
« on: June 26, 2008, 08:03:13 PM »
I managed to get a JCM 800 4104 combo off of ebay for a great price the other day and I am loving it, so decided to do a clip. Unfortunately it was done at very low volume so sounds quite fizzy. It is my gibson SG with riff raff bridge straight into the amp for the rhythm parts and boosted with the crunchbox for leads.

you wouldn't use the meat knife on crusty bread but, equally, the serrated knife and straight edge knife aren't going to go through raw meat as quickly

I'm sure you'll love, it's a great pickup. I just can't wait to hear it through my new amp cranked at band practice

Sounds good :) I'd have liked a little bit more gain though. Great playing as usual. How much different does the JCM800 sound to the DSL? I've heard that DSL can get pretty close with the right settings, retube/bias and a good cab.

I covered this song as well ages ago but my tones a bit thinner and not double tracked http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=493678&songID=5105581

Yea I could get quite close to the sound of the jcm 800 with the dsl, but the jcm800 just sounds so much thicker and less fizzy. It doesn't have nearly as much gain as the dsl so isn't as versatile but for classic rock distortion the jcm 800 is just so much better. I'm definately gonna keep the dsl as a backup as its a great amp but doesnt quite match up to the tone of the 800.
Your cover sounds really good aswell. Was that your les paul with mules? If I ever get a les paul I'm definately gonna get mules for it.
