VHII attempt on Black Hole Sun
« on: July 12, 2008, 05:06:15 PM »
Done 2 patches with the Axe FX to do my version of Black Hole Sun ... let's say this is how it should sound when played live.

Note: This is recorded with an SM57 in front of a Vintage 30 in a Heritage 2x12 Cab, Axe Ultra into Power Amp In of a Bogner Shiva, speaker sim off, power amp sim on.

I prefer playing the Axe through the guitar cab, guess speaker sims is where most modelers actually fail. Like this it feels and sounds great. VHIIs shine through all the way.

not feeling it.. sorry, sounds too middle of the road and lifeless for my liking.

on 2nd listen, i think its the too wide modulation on the chorus...

Not a fan of the FX so much, but is a convincing amp sound.
No longer an ampaholic then? :O
I'm quite shocked by the sale of your valve amps

Well there is a "Buttery" model in the Axe that sounds pretty much like the Budda, and there are Plexis and JTM45s in there, which I can boost with a virtual TS and they do the Vintage Modern thing. So why keep them all?

Keeping the Bogner though, that's too much of a long term relationship, even my GF who hates all gear said I should keep the Shiva.

Doesn't sound too bad for that actually - better than I thought it was going to sound.

Shame you're keeping the Shiva, I'd have had that off you
