Just out of curiosity, has anyone played with the Roland VG-8, VG-88, VG88 V2 or VG-8EX?  They look interesting.
Mississippi Queen Set = Gibson SG Standard
Warpig = '88 Charvel Model 1

I used to have a Boss GT-6, the effects were all very tweakable, lots of options. I took a bit of tweaking for me to get good sounds though, especially with fx.

I sold it and got a PodXT and then an Atomic Reactor amp (a 18w 1x12 valve amp for pod and other modeler boxes)

The Pod sounds much better through the Atomic, the valves give it a bit more warmth but it's still not a cranked Marshall, although the cab has a bass port, which is pretty cool  :twisted:

The Pod doesn't have as much FX though, the emphasis is more on tha amp models, some are better than others, but I like the huge choice, it keeps me busy.

HJM: I'm sure you are right about TO having a VG88, I would love one of those with a MIDI pickup, you can do loads of cool things with them.
"What frequency are you getting? Is it noise or sweet, sweet music?"

Vox Tonelab

I used to have a Vox Tonelab.  The desktop version, I bought it in early 2004.

It sounded very good, but eventually I got sick of it.  All the sounds were compressed, so there were no playing dynamics at all.

So I sold it and got analogue pedals, overall they do sound as good, and now I have more expression in my playing.

Using the pick attack to control your sound is something that many people overlook, and a good tube amp gives you in spades.

One day someone will emulate this effect, until then I'm staying analogue, sniff...
