Tele help
« on: July 27, 2008, 11:50:14 PM »
hey guys,

i've recently decided to buy a telecaster, and as such have stripped my room of all unnecessary items to sell so i can buy one...

this is all well and good, but i don't know which pickups to put in it. It'll be a spruce body/maple neck job, if that makes any difference...

In terms of the sound i want, it's primarily going to be used for indie, but i like to push my guitar sound so that it's breaking up quite a bit, but nothing metalzzzz...

any ideas?? was thinking of either brown sugar or the boss, but not sure...

Cheers

James

Hmmm, I have some advice, but it's not what you want to hear!

I would suggest waiting until you get to know the guitar before changing anything.

Yep, wot he says ^ (Kilby, not Roo!)

I bought a Baja tele fully expecting to start BKPing it almost immediately. As it turned out, the stock pickups are pretty good for what I want. Only now, some 5 months later, am I starting to think that I might be able to improve (and I'm looking at a different set than I would have bought originally!)

On what set to get... just as much in the dark as everyone else. I'm looking at Blackguards with a Flat 50 (check out Elliot's clip in Players http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=13637.0), but I'm looking for a classic tele blues/rock/anything-under-the-sun sort of sound...
