if we can include bass players then I would vote for JJ Burnel (the stranglers for all you youngsters)

Who was well known for leaping int the audiance to track down those who where spitting at the band.

Sometimes he even took off the bass before jumping in

That's Kane Roberts.

Hard? Maybe.  Ridiculous? Undoubtedly.

Nice gloves, Rambo.  Or is it Dumbo?

Alan Lancaster was reputedly unbeaten in a ruck, and Malcolm Young was meant to be a bit tasty too.
Ritchie Blackmore once broke someone's jaw!
Ted Nugent is probably armed on stage (in fact in the shower too), especially after Dimebag.

I don't know if this is 100% true or if it's grown in the telling, but Rossi and Parfitt were too scared to sack him - even though they didn't get on with him at all by that stage - so they told him the band was splitting up after Live Aid.

Then they put together a new lineup about a year later (fortunately he lives in Australia, I guess they thought that's a good safe distance!).

What about the guitarist out of L7 that removed then threw a tampon at a member of their audience?

Technically speaking, is that hard, or just disgusting?

I reckon that lead guitarist out of the Kings of Leon is probably more than a bit tasty. He has that look about him.  Not overly muscly, just looks like he can handle himself.

Johnny Cash-definitely, Steven Seagal-definitely not, Zakk Wylde-I have a feeling he's not as hard when the cameras aren't around.

Speaking of TOTP, Jim Bob and Fruit Bat from Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine (both guitarists) jumped on Philip Schofield...  Obviously, beating up Gordons mate Phil isn't necessarily "hard", but it's pretty cool...

Yes but can they control the heat of the sun and the rotation of the earth? Can they go into killzone mode on the 3-way toggle switch? Do they have Yngwie Malmsteen as their guitartech and have him eat cheesecake all day? Can they make Michael Angelo Batio fall down from the ceiling and slice people's heads off? Can they rape your soul in the afterlife? Can they play 4 billion notes per second in order to warp back in time and practice 63 hours a day? I think not.

Don't forget he his pedal board also triggers nukes.
