finally got my BYOC tubescreamer working fully!

I've had it for ages but when it didnt work first try I sort of gave up :lol: Anyway I found out that the cause of it not working was a broken switch due to overheating so I got a new one from banzai (and a blue LED cos they look cooler) and after much procrastination finally got it put in. The LED was a pain in the arse to put in because my desoldering braid wouldnt take out the solder properly so I had to keep the heat on the pads whilst I fed the leads through, very annoying. Anyway heres a pic of it with my unique hand drawn graphics :lol:



Sounds pretty good to me, better than my Behringer to800!

Unfortunately I just managed to damage the JRC chip putting it in so its really bloody noisy and I have to use the other ones which dont sound as good. Anyone got a spare JRC I could have? :P

Glad you got it working, to make your life easier I would suggest ditching desoldering braid and using a decent deaoldering tool

I discovered the difference when I used to have to desolder 40 pin ICs takes a bit of practice to get synchronized but better in the long run

desolder tool is great for this type of electronics... i take a braid for SMT stuff.

I've used those desoldering tools before and I couldnt get them to work for me at all for some reason. Then again they were probably just the cheap ones that school had..

Finally! Now i gotta get my OLC soldano clone working... Totally rubbish sound, it might be the switch actually, the sound is thin and cr@ppy and keeps cutting out. Balls.

Yeah thats the sound I got out of this before I replaced the switch. I had to turn the amp up to 10 to make the sound audible when you turned the pedal on :x

I'm thinking of trying another BYOC now my soldering is a bit better, the digital delay interests me but it looks complicated.

You do need to get a decent one otherwise it's worse than useless also you need to keep he tip in decent condition, that's easy enough with your own one, but school or college ones there's no hope
