Miracle Man + Alnico VIII = ???
« on: September 17, 2008, 05:58:34 PM »
I have a Miracle Man that came installed in a guitar I get used some time ago, and it is not the kind of sound I use in a pickup, I want something more "organic".  I also have a Alnico VIII bar around and was wondering if that could give my MM a touch of the thing I'm looking for.

Any idea of how can this combination sound?

I think you'll need thinner side spacers, cause the alnico 8 bars are standard sized, and the ceramic bar on the miracle man is huge
I had this magnet in a duncan custom
worked really well
you'll probably lose some output and tightness, but it fills the midrange and smooths the highs

if you can make the spacers (with some piece of wood stick) or take them from another pickup and you're confident to do the magnet swap, then do it and tell us how it sounded  :D
