Hi there,
I purchased a 2005 les paul classic with mahogany body and maple top, rosewood fretboard.
Now, I do like the sound the stock pups, but they have less 'bite' and are less 'aggressive' then my friends' 1992 classic plus. (the wood would probably be a factor as well here)
What I would like for my gibby, is a pickup that makes it a bit more aggressive, and with plenty of attack. Oh, I'm thinking about a bridge pickup here.
Like I said, I DO like the sound the stock bridge pup produces, but I really just want that tad more 'aggressiveness' / drive that my Samick guitar has with the EMG's in it (ok I know you can't compare active and passive pups like that). But plugging in the samick with emg's into my amp, makes it scream more, the distortion is just more pronounced.... if you know what i mean...
Going trough the forum, I believe a miracle man would be a good choice.
I play melodic punk and metal now and then and also a lot of leads. So I would need a pup that can do rythm as good as it can do lead (creamy, round, not muddy....)
I'm not sure a warpig of holy diver would be a good choice,, since I also would like to be able to still play some nice clean stuff.
so I'm looking for: tightness, agressiveness, attack, good lead sound, something with a 'punch' :) without sounding too muddy. Hell, an EMG without the sterility about sums it up :)
So what would you guys choose?
Thanks !
