Ibanez PGM301 Complete pickup revamp!
« on: November 07, 2008, 12:10:57 AM »
Hi there, I currently have a PGM301 which is basswood, with these pickups installed

• DiMarzio® Paf Pro (H) neck pu - Too high output
• DiMarzio® Jem Single (S) mid pu
• DiMarzio® Paf Pro (H) bridge pu -Lacks balls

Im looking to change too

• DiMarzio® Air Norton (H) neck pu
• DiMarzio® ?
• DiMarzio® Tone Zone (H) bridge pu

However first of all i would like to hear what bareknuckle have to offer, here is what I'm looking for

Bridge pickup

Humbucker
High Gain (As high as possible) - Paul Gilbert Style
High Output
Clarity between notes ( Muddy is not what i want)
Bass>Mids>Treble

Middle (Single Coil)
Clean twangy Strat sound- Hendrix Style

Neck pickup
Warm clean tones
Fat Distorted tones- SRV style
Low/Medium output

Thanks a lot, i look forward to reading your reply

Anthony

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I'm no expert at this, but I'm thinking bridge, either a Nailbomb or a Miracle Man. Irish Tour in the middle, or a Trilogy. Neck not so sure on this one, but a Nailbomb could do this I think.

I look forward to seeing what others have to say!

if i remember correctly paul's tone has been really hot and thick as of late,
so maybe a a8 or ceramic nailbomb or miracleman? Maybe get it overwound for some extra saturation. (for the bridge)

Just my humble opinion of course, you should check with Tim too, he's sure to give you the best suggestions.
