Why no love?
« on: November 24, 2008, 06:04:34 PM »
Why no love for the Black Dogs? They don't seem to get much talk around here and I love mine in the bridge of my Heritage. So why not talk about them?  Do they just fall between the cracks of "classic" PAF sound and full on high output metal pick ups?

If they are in the middle, then perhaps those are the one I want :P
I guess perhaps people are quite strict in terms of "I want vintage (metal) sound...."

I love mine, just the right amount of umph without being mushy like the Duncan JB, an awesome amount of bite to the top end and just balanced sounding on all four of my wound strings, but no one seems to mention them when I check the forum, who knows...

They are great, i have a calibrated set in my ESP LTD EC-1000. Replaced a JB and '59. Great pickups, surprisingly powerful. Slightly dark sounding and low middy.
