PG Blues vs Flipped Magnet
« on: November 21, 2008, 09:51:03 PM »
Hi,

There is lots of stuff on the web about the PG sound.

Magnet flip vs reverse winding etc etc. Honestly, it gets kinda intense and really personal. Google it if you don't believe me!!

Ultimately, it comes down to sound.

Ok.....I've done the deal. I bought a set of PG Blues but I've also got a magnet flip set of burstbuckers.

It's such an iconic sound in British Blues (ask Gary Moore), so tell me.......what are your views about the PG Blues pups vs the magnet flip vs any other 'PG' pups out there.

Guess I might get a biased view on a BKP website.........but go for it!

Cheers,

Rob

there is at least one pickup guru claiming that the PG tone is not just a flipped magnet to get the pickups magnetically out of phase.  turning the pickup round so that the screws are facing the bridge will yield a slightly different tone - maybe thats what the gurus mean in addition to the magnet flip ???

Tim spoke to the guy who actually made the original out of phase. I think that answers most of it. But as its been said there are lots of people out there claiming it to be a different story.
