Killswitch on Cold Sweats
« on: January 08, 2009, 11:22:56 PM »
This is kind of a response to "_tom_" who did something similar on Mules. This is my take on a different KsE song - in this case "My Curse" instead of "Fixation on the Darkness" - on Cold Sweats.

Not my greatest playing, but it gives an idea on how good Cold Sweats are.

Hope you like this response and consider buying Cold Sweats, tom!

Nice tone from what I can tell though laptop speakers :) Definitely interested in a set if I actually get another guitar this year!

What amp was used btw?

It says he used a Harley Benton which are those cheap-as-$%&# amps on Thomann which I'm quite surprised at :O

But the Cold Sweat definately nail it for Killswitch Engage. Though the HB sounds pretty good, I think it would sound awesome with a better amp.

The Harley has been modded. Runs on a good set of valves (not the cr@p ones they usually want put in them) and has different voicing settings. AC30, Hi-Watt 100, Marshall...something or other.

In other words, it's not a Harley any more. It just has that plastered on the front of it.

And anyway, the tone's all in your fingers ;)

Nice tone. I love my Cold Sweat. Was this done with just a bridge CS or a bridge and neck?

Think it's just the bridge.

Hi,
This was played on the Cold Sweat only in the Bridge position. The neck pickup is a Wolftone voiced for Gary Moore tone. But since this is the BKP site he didn't think it appropriate. On the subject of the amp. Go to Evil B... and search on RAT Electronics (not the pedals) or "modded harley benton" and see the mods to this amp made by the guy. This is a fine amp for a 15 year old (13 when he got it) to be using in a bedroom, with the power scaling he can get the tone without the volume, which means my wife can watch her soap operas in relative peace, instead of him blasting out his JSM900. Oh i'm the dad of Klone btw. Incidentally this is the amp used on all his posts so far on this site.
Regards
J
