Cheers for the responses all. My uvula is now nearly back to normal size. A big relief. Only problem now is that I have suffered some sort of allergic reaction to some tablets I was taking to get rid of/fight a fever. I now look like I have done a few too many hours on a sunbed. Classy.

Anyway - back to work tomorrow so there is everything to be cheerful for!

Seeing as that response is from you Johnny I'm going to take a complete guess that Ardbeg is some kind of Whisky. I don't even feel the need to look it up on google. That's how strong my suspicion on this one is!

Just got back from hols, hence the rather late response...

I had an inflamed uvula a few years ago (and it occasionally swells up if I have viral infections now). It was hanging down my throat and inducing the gag reflex, which was, frankly, horrible!!!
I could 'throw' up the uvula onto my tongue, which was pretty nasty!
I went to the GP, and she was so disgusted that she called in the other doctors (I never want to hear the phrase 'Oh my GOD! Do you mind if I bring my colleague in to see this, that's incredible!' in that context from a doctor EVER again!).
I couldn't do anything about it, and eventually the swelling went down on its own. Quite uncomfortable!

Hope yours is better now.

In a different context, it might be something to brag about....
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM
