Well, my brother is probably buying a lefty from Feline, and got offered to chose from these three pickups, so im trying to help him out. The guitar is a superstrat, rosewood fingerboard, not sure what woods, but probably maple/alder i guess. So, he listens and plays mostly Old School thrash metal (Testament, Dark Angel, Early Metallica, Exodus, Metal Church, Nuclear Assault, Violence, Overkill, Kreator, Sodom) and old school swedish death metal (Entombed, Dismember, Grave- the fat chainsaw sound). So which one of these three would do this best?

Also, Jonathan, if you see this, could you tell me which one of the two (RG and Dinky) have the fattest neck of the two?

The guitar is a superstrat, rosewood fingerboard, not sure what woods, but probably maple/alder i guess. So, he listens and plays mostly Old School thrash metal (Testament and the more extreme thrash bands) and old school swedish death metal (Entombed, Dismember- the fat chainsaw sound). So which one of these three would do this best?

Holydiver or Miracle Man for sure man. The Nailbomb is cool too, but I think the low mid emphasis the HD/MM have would be great for a maple neck/alder body guitar.

No the Cold Sweat is much too bright for alder/maple IMO.

Hm, i think Jonathan only offered these three, im not sure if he meant that in the manner that he just recommends those three, or that he only will put any of those three in.

Why couldn't you just order any one you want from a dealer or BKP directly? Anyways if given the choice from those 3 specifically, I would go with the ceramic Warpig. It has really aggressive/thick low mids and great attack. The Nailbomb works too but the ceramic WP is tighter. I woud probably pass on the alnico WP.

Because hes probably buying one of Jonathans (Felineguitars) guitars, and they come stock with BKPs, so its not a matter of buying the BKPs and then switching them out himself.

wouldn't pick the NB, WP or CWP for those tones - Miracle Man all the way for old school thrash.

Thanks for all the suggestions, im not sure if Jonathan can offer a Miracle Man, guess it wont hurt to ask, but ill let him ask himself from now on haha, feel so silly for asking in his place. When you say Miracle Man, do you take the "Old school swedish Death metal" part in consideration? I know that he will want those tones just as much, and i realize that a pickup cant do everything (and neither are pickups the only thing that affects tone) and they are two very different sounds, so i guess MM might be the choice.

Dude, just put whatever pickup you want in there. Who cares what it comes with you know? It's super easy to swap. You could always get one of those 3 he has, then when it comes if its not to your liking, you can sell it and get a MM or something else :)

well, maybe for old school thrash there's something more appropriate, but stockholm death metal sound NEEDS warpigs!
and, even if i'm not so sure, in the wacken carnage bloodbath dvd dan swano seems to use a warpig/pig90 set. i'm not sure, i repeat, but it looks like that!

i've never played MMs myself, but usually people say they're voiced after EMG81s, so they should be the less suitable for that GLORIOUS sound! :)

The MM is really nothing like the EMG 81. If anything it's more like an EMG 85. The 81 has a high-midrange focus and practically nothing else. The MM has smooth upper mids with a heavy low-mid emphasis, which is similar to how the EMG 85  or EMG 707 is voiced.

for the Swedish DM sound, i would recommend, for the old school ones, Warpig. but for the newer ones, Nailbomb.
For thrash metal, MM, depending on your woods, and also a nailbomb. in a lesser extent.

i play both styles and there are some clips here :

theres a cover of terrorizer - fear of napalm, lock up - afterlife in purgatory, Dismember - Of Fire, and other newer stuffs.
I hope you enjoy
