Blackstar HT-DIST/X pedals as a pre-amp... ?
« on: February 26, 2009, 11:25:08 PM »
Hey guys

I was wondering if i could use the HT-Dist/DistX as a pre-amp into a power amp such as the Marshall 9100/9200... or does it have to go through a clean power amp for it to work properly?

Might head down to PMT and try these little boxes out, i've been resisting for quite a while...

Only issue you could face is that the output of the Blackstar pedal is not enough to properly drive the input stage of your poweramp.

Worst case, if the Blackstar has pedal output and it's too low for the poweramp, you could make up gain with a clean boost behind the overdrive, in that case I'd get one with a pretty big range, like the MI Audio Boost'n buff (has 35dB).

I'm interested in the DistX too... for those occasions where you don't want to lug a head around!

Excellent... i think this is what i shall try

I'm going to guess it'll be just like having a Blackstar HT-5, just 100 watts and a proper set of valves in the power section!
