I think I've got some decent gear but for what I do (not much) I think it is potentially getting too complex and expensive. I mostly use my Digitech GNX3000 for practice with headphones during the week and move between my GNX and Marshall at the weekend. I also jam with a guy every week and may play the odd small gig. I love the valve tone I have on the Marshall but to get the sound I want I'm going to need to invest in a number of pedals. I could use the GNX for effects only but it's a hassle setting it all up and once it is, changing the effects settings isn't too straightforward without being connected to a computer. X-Edit really makes a difference. The trouble is that if I got all the effects I like to use as pedals (Overdrive, Distortion, Chorus, Delay, Compressor and Wah) I'll need to spend quite a bit more money. The other option I've been thinking of is selling the Marshall and the GNX and getting a Vypyr Tube 60 instead so it is more of an all-in-one package. With what I should get for my own gear it should work out as pretty much a straight swap. I'm guessing that the valves on the Tube 60 model will help to give me the better quality of tone I'm used to. When I bought the Marshall I also tried a Spider Valve but while it had appeal, it was still just too digital sounding whereas the Marshall was really organic. I understand the Peavey is a lot better but I haven't been able to find one to try.
Am I just setting myself up to be severely disappointed or is the Vypyr Tube 60 genuinely a good option for me?
