HEAVY Krank Distortus maximus clips !
« on: April 23, 2009, 01:29:41 PM »
Just knocked together a couple of new Distortus Maximus clips, as I'm trying to sell the thing on ebay with little luck. Thought some "brewtal" clips might help.

What do you guys think ?    It's not exactly my style, and my playing is sh1t but the tone sounds pretty good to me.

Full mids - http://www.box.net/shared/static/v93fmu8du4.mp3

Darker scooped tone - http://www.box.net/shared/static/2a1olk2kvn.mp3

Any suggestions how to improve them, and appeal to "teh brewtal" fans ?  I'm not going to "cheat" and tweak them in cubase. They are completely unprocessed and will stay that way.

Turn it up. Thats rather brittle, fizzy and loose. Sounds like its probably the tonal character of the thing, but you should get a much better sound if its cranked.

And you can hear the strings and pick attack (as it straight from guitar to mic, not via amp).

You can hear the strings as it was recorded at pretty low volume.

So, it needs to be "darker" generally ?  I know I usually dial these types of tones in too bright.

If I turn up the master on the pedal, it'll just overdrive the amp, which will not be tight, as it's basically a JTM50 circuit.
Or are you talking about turning up the amp ?  In which case it'll make a bit of difference, but pretty negligible with this amp, unless I get to volumes I'm not prepared to have in the house.

THanks for your comments MDV.

Its not too dark, eq ballance wise it sounds fine to me, its in its tonal character.

I dont mean turn the pedal up, I mean turn the amp up, get the speaker moving.

The effect on a dynamic mic up close to the speaker will be very different than on your ears :)

Here's a new one. Better ?

BTW, speakers are greenbacks, which are less than ideal for this style.

Hmmm, not really. Theres some more mid push in there, but its still brittle.

Metallica use/d greenbacks, they cant be that bad for metal. Should help smooth the highs at any rate; they're quite a smooth speaker.

If youre not willing/able to give it some real juice then I'd go with the 2a10lk one and call it a day.
