This actually ties in rather nicely with a fundraising gig I'm involved with on the 19th of April - I will post details elsewhere on this forum so as not to hijack this thread and your efforts here!!!
There are various forms of various cancers, some of which spread (metastasise) much faster and more aggressively than others. Many primary tumours can be treated with increasing success rates (but some still cannot), but the majority of cancer-related deaths come from secondary tumours, where cancer cells, or clumps of cells, have been transported elsewhere in the body and 'set up shop' in a site secondary to the first tumour. These secondary tumours almost always exhibit far more aggressive growth rates, so it's really important that we understand more about metastasis and how we can intervene to slow or stop the spread of tumour cells throughout the body.
