Anyone have any idea?
« on: April 17, 2009, 05:52:57 PM »
What amp Clapton is using in this video?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAjdRHzH4M8

I quite like the tone, but i know nothing about Fender amps, so i have no idea which one it is.

Also, awesome video.

Seen the vid and googled a little. My best guess would be a blackface (Dual) Showman.

Other amps at that time came with 2X12 cabs. The cab in the vid is huge. Either a 4X12 or a 2X18.

Killer vid BTW.

Gotta be a blackface Dual Showman.  Very much the "in" amp at that time.

Yeah looking at it again I think it is Dual Showman. I paused the vid at a point when the amp is shown. Haven't seen on in years though but I bet there will be some around. Good to see Mr Lennon in good form and Keith does a fine job on bass.

And I like Brown or Blonde!

Its one of my favourite Youtube clips.

Its a shame they didn't record an album coz it would have been an awesome megaband.

Deffo a Showman and not a bandmaster - it has 6 knobs on the main panel rather than 5 and you can see that the name is in one word - the band  master was written in two.

I've had a boner for a blackface Bassman forever.

More of a blonde bassman fan myself but I did try some blackfaces.

A blackface Bandmaster. Liked it alot. Same as the Bassman but a different output transformer.

I also tried a Deluxe Reverb Reissue. Liked that one too. Great if you crank it up a bit and awesome with a vintage Tube Screamer.

BTW, Fender makes a new Vintage Modified Bandmaster with some impressive built in FX. Haven't heard one in person yet but the clips sounded impressive.

Fender amp GAS has been reignited. And this one is the one i have my eye on, seems to tick all the boxes for me. And i have been rather unhappy with my TT for a little while now.
