To Ol: View latest posts in the forum

One thing that bugs me here is that there is no simple functionality to see latest posts across all forum categories. If you go inside a certain category, you can see all posts as descending history, which is great, but why is there not the same view across all categories?

On rig talk you can click "view latest posts (independent from if you have viewed them already or not)". It's probably easy to implement, but would add great value for me. Not sure, maybe I'm alone with this.

I second this. Would be very useful instead of having to into each sub-forum (and subsequently forgetting which topic was in which forum, which happens more than you might think to a bear of such little brain as myself).

It's probably a tick-box setting in the PHP forum anyway (although it's been a while since I set up and ran forums).

There is one Hunter.  Go to the main forum page then select from the top right hand corner:

"Show unread posts since last visit"

Sometimes this doesn't show me anything, so I then click on

"All Unread Topics"

Works for me!!!

It's different. Won't show me posts I read before. I just want all topics, no matter whether I or anyone read them or sth. Just all posts descending timing order.

what I do is have the main forum section set up as a bookmark on firefox and in the properties the bookmark I have it load as a side bar, saves me browsing back and forth through the main page, probably only saves me 2 clicks/2 seconds but it'll add up :P

Soo, this link I hadn't seen before (although I'm here quite a lot, hmm). However it's not 100% the same and therefore not what I was looking for.

The "View new posts" in Rig-Talk only gives you the headline overview (not including the post as in your link mentioned above). Plus it only shows each thread once, in order according to when they received their last post, whereas here one thread can appear several times.

So actually the RigTalk thing behaves exactly the same as "Show unread posts since last visit" in here, but it just ignores, whether a post had been read by you or not. So that also means that the result is much bigger, when I click that link in Rig Talk, I get 35 pages of posts (probably that's the limit set by the admin).

Not sure if this is very complicated, but others seem to like having that feature, too.
