PA Speakers
« on: April 18, 2009, 11:00:58 PM »
I've just got home from doing the PA at a small pub gig.  I think I've blow one the 12" speakers  :(

Where do you guys go for PA speakers?  Just the same place you would for guitar speakers?  Any recommendations?

It was a 200w 12" speaker at 8 ohms.  I'm thinking I'll replace the 12" in both cabs at the same time & up the power a bit.  So I'm think about 300w/400w at 4ohms.

EDIT:  Actually it's fine.  It was a component on the crossover that'd come loose.  I've re-soldered it now.  Phew

just for future reference, try running a cheap limiter like one of the behringer ones across the main outs on the desk so you protect the speakers and kill those nasty spikes.
