A double pole single throw switch is more usefull for phase switching - one with 3 tags per side on the base.
Solder the red wire from the pup to one of the central tags and the black wire to the other central tag.
Solder a red wire to one of the outer tags, but on the same side as the red wire from the pup and a black wire to the outer tag next to where you put the red wire and on the same side as the black wire from the pup.
Next solder a short wire from the same outer tag as you attached the red wire to, and the other end to the unused outer tag diagonally opposite and a wire from the outer tag you attached the black wire to to the unused outer tag diagonally opposite that - so what you end up with is an X of wire across the centre of the switch , red and black wires from the pup going to the centre tags of the switch and red and black wires coming out of the switch.
The red wire coming from the switch goes to tag 1 of the pot as per normal and the black wire is soldered to the pot casing - as per normal

Do you have that in picture format? :D

go here for the diagram and lots of other wiring mods  http://www.1728.com/guitar.htm

and in correction to what I said earlier - it is indeed a dpdt switch that you need

Going back to the original question, I was wondering what your existing pickups are?

All pickups have a ground wire, but if it's a humbucker or P-90 with a single conductor plus braided shield, the braid is grounding the pickup coils and the metal parts of the pickup.  So you can't just swap the ground and hot connections to put the pickup out of phase with the guitar's other pickup.

If you want to use a phase switch as pagan7 has described, one of the pickups needs to have (at least) two conductors plus a separate shield/ground wire.  In practice, that means one pickup will be 4-conductor, although the green and white wires won't be needed for phase switching.

In that case then yes, you need a separate ground wire for the neck pickup's cover, then you can connect the white and black wires to a phase switch.

Or, you could do something similar with the bridge pickup - cut the ground connection on the baseplate and add a separate ground wire from the bridge itself, as described here:
