Yay! Calibrated Nailbombs in my Les Paul!

Awesome. I did a little recording, not the best quality because I think I've got some phase issues between the two microphones I used. But it does at least demonstrate the awesomeness of the Nailbomb's in a Les Paul!

Sounds great, especially after you turn up the guitar vol. Would love to hear it in song context.

What was the gear used?

Well, this is all bridge position, full volume. I used a Laney VH100R into a JCM900 1936 2x12 cab, mic'd up. The first tone is a crunchy tone from channel A, with the drive engaged. The rest is all channel B with the drive engaged.

You will be able to hear them in context when my bands album is done - we're currently recording guitars and bass. Check us out, you might like it!

These pickups are PHWOARSOME! :D

whoa
sounds huge for a laney, specially considering it's a 1936 cab

try some good sounding booster and take out a bit of gain of the amp

this will help with the sustain and fill those midrange crunch gaps

my holy diver worked great with a wylde overdrive (max output, min drive)

Agreee with the boost idea, i love my BB preamp with the drive all the way off and 3/4 on the volume gives it such a thick undertone.

Interesting. I have a fulltone OCD, but I guess that isn't the same thing as a boost. Any recommendations? I was looking at the MXR micro-amp.

if you use the fulltone with the drive down and volume up and it should boost well

Strangely, the OCD doesn't really do boost duties that well. Not enough volume it seems. My housemate had an old Bluesbreaker II pedal laying around, so I tried that. Works very well as a boost, so I think I'll use that for a bit. Only thing is, boosting on the clean channel totally kills the clean tone I'm going for! I guess I'm going to have to do some tap-dancing.

A unmodified Laney VH100R should be matched with greenbacks for best sound!
You can also put a eq in the loop for taking the razzling buzzz away that comes with the vh100.

+1... It's sounds like that that make me want to give up the days of playing through headphones and get a proper amp...
