Does anyone else get this... whenever you see 'Genuine blah blah blah' do you automatically think its a scam?

I do...

Mostly because I don't see why anyone legit would feel they had to say it was genuine.

Depends on the advert.  If you're looking for Tele/Strat scratchplates, for example, there are loads of generic copies but they still use the word "Fender" because that's what guitar it's for.  But if they say "genuine Fender" it's (usually) an actual Fender part rather than a copy.

The important things are the photos and the description.

This thread reminds me of a 335 I saw on eBay a few years ago. I wasn't entirely sure it was genuine so sent the seller a question. He said it was a genuine 335 made in the 80's and that "Jimi Hendrix had strung a few chords together on it". When asked how Hendrix did this considering he died in the 70's I got a response back saying it was "Jimmy Page not Jimi Hendrix".

Outrageous!
I think I hate being indecisive.
