ABRAXAS & RIFF RAFF IN MY LES PAUL
« on: October 28, 2005, 09:49:21 PM »
I have paired my Abraxas bridge AIV with a Riff Raff neck AV and have to say that the results are superb. I have had them in my LP for two weeks now but baby No 2, due within the week, has caused some problems so I've not given them a proper test run until last night.

I plugged into my mates Marshall TSL, no effects, and gave it my best shot. The Abraxas doesn't need alot of gain from the amp to give a good sustaining sound, and rings out as clear as a bell. The Riff Raff is the brightest neck pickup I own and compliments the Abraxas very well. When played in the in between position I got a real "honky" tone which I thought was Fu@\Ing brilliant. My mate was bowled over by this tone and wants some BKPs. Using the same settings we plugged in my mates LP with Burstbuckers, but that "honky" sound could not be found. I must say though, his burstbuckers sound good. Much better than the set I have.

Overall this sound moves away from the PAF open crunch and moves into hotter territory where some great soloing can be done as well as a kind of funcky rythym thing.

Oh. The raw nickle covers age in front of your very eyes, too.

Hats off to BKPs, once again.

Sorry.

Yes, I mean that his Burstbuckers are better than the Burstbuckers that I originally had in my Les Paul.
