Thanks for the clips. The Tonezone and Nailbomb are both pickups I've always wanted to try.

Could you list your setup? I'm interested to know what guitar/wood you are using.

He's using an RG1570, so basswood.

The Bareknuckles (not so surprisingly) simply sit better in the mix. They blend well, but are defined. When you play a lead, it is heard. The Tonezone sounds more mushed and pushed back as far as leads go.

The Nailbomb has a much richer sound.

The DiMarzios sound good distorted (I prefer the NBs though) but really listen to the clean sounds.

the DiMarzios sound thin and a bit nasty in comparison.

questions

Whats your recording setup? (amps/mics or amp sim used) and also NBs covered or uncovered.

Yes it's indeed a 1570. the clips were recorded with a axe-fx. The cleans are a "FAS Clean"-amp, a 4x12 v30 impulse. Dist is a recto red(?), a dual recto sim if i remember correctly and one of Alu's oversize mesa-impulses.

The presets are optimized for the dimarzios. But I believe doing these kinds of tests is the only way to get a nice understanding of the pickups character.

Tonezone is a bit bassier and has a more distinct mid hump.
The breed is really nice imo. Though it's quite compressed and it's really hard doing pinch harmonix and stuff.

The nailbomb is like a major upgrade. Got similar sound but in a much nicer way. tighter, middish, really nice highs(!)

Wow those clips sounds great. Sounds like Opeth. Love it!

Good tone as well. You make me want to swap the Tone Zone in my Ibanez.
