Which pick ups for mahogany?
« on: August 02, 2009, 01:34:34 AM »
Hello guys, new to this community.

I need your help to choose the best sounding BKP for 2 of my guitars.
This 98 custom ordered Usa BC Rich stealth.
Neckthrough body/neck : mahogany
10mm quilt maple top
ebony fretboard
Kahler 2300 series (which has a very small routing on the top and not  the usual back routing of the floyd tremolos)

Since 1983 i played custom shop guitars of almost all brands, but this is the loudest i've ever played "unplugged".

(the Bill Lawrence and the dimarzio sound shitee on this guitar.)

and this Usa Jackson KV2T.

Neckthrough body / neck mahogany.
ebony fretboard
Stringthrough.

I play mostly Progresive Metal / Death Metal and my playing is similar to Michael Amott (Carcass Era).
My guitars are tuned on C.
During the last 20 years i 've been using EMG's and got used to their advantages and disadvantages.
Now it's the time to refresh my sound. I've read a lot about BKP and recently i played an ESP with alder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard "wearing" a Warpig on the bridge and i was very much impressed.
That's why i decided to put BKP on these two guitars. If i get satisfied, there are 3 more to come.
So, i need a monstrous bridge pick up and a crystal clean (not vintage sounding)  neck pick up that can split.
All opinions much appreciated.

Thanx
Harry

PS. english is not my mother language, so please write as much simple as you can.

Or painkiller x2 if you don't mind lack of variety.
BKP Team: Bridge MQ, Black. Bridge HD, Raw Nickel.
To Do: Bridge Nailbomb in chrome (?)

nah nah you've got it all backwards. That B.C rich is a pile of trash, its the guitar thats ruining the pickups not the pickups screwing with the guitar dude.

I'd gladly take it off your hands to help you out

I also say Painkiller on both counts. If you want some variety you could do PK in one and Cermaic Nailbomb in the other. By the way. AWESOME GUITARS!!! That BC Rich is stunning.
