Welcome :D
Is that one of the "faded" ones? I just acquired one last saturday to put my Riff Raffs in (I wasn't enjoying the Epi SG they were in).
I play blues/blues-rock/pop type-stuff. I am loving what the Riff Raffs do for me in this guitar - but I'm not sure whether they'll cover all your bases?
They DEFINITELY do the AC/DC
I think they'll do the Black Sabbath (certainly the earlier stuff) but I haven't actually tried this particular set-up in that direction. If I really wanted that, I'd be looking at putting Mississippi Queens in there.
Not too sure about metallica, I'm not that familiar with the tones...
So far this week, I've been using this guitar for zz top type stuff, jazz, blues, allman brothers, lynyrd skynyrd, and I've also started experimenting with old school metal stuff I haven't played for years (think Killing Machine era Judas Priest sounds ).
One thing I would ask you, is what sort of accoustic tone has yours got? I decided to replace my Epi because it was kind sterile sounding for me, and the Riff Raffs were great but not as soulful as my other guitars (if that makes sense). It was quite a "hard" sounding instrument. It actually was a lot better, to my ears, for 70s/80s metal than the new SG is. But the new one has "depth" and "warmth" as well as bite and growl - and that's what I wanted.
I tried several SGs and rejected 2 or 3 that sounded a bit thin and harsh for what I wanted. The one I bought had (accoustically) a mellowness and resonance that the others didn't - so I took a punt on it and when I got it home I found I had a winner :D
Depending on your actual guitar I think Riff Raffs might well do the job for you - they are "70's rock" and "early metal" incarnate.
But if your SG is warmer and more "organic" like mine, I wonder whether you might need something "more" (I don't know what though) - this is based on you writing "metal/rock" rather than "rock/metal" in your post above!
