BKP bridge & neck pickups for Ibanez MTM1
« on: August 19, 2009, 03:35:27 PM »
Hi guys,

need to get some ideas on which BKP pickup to get for my Ibanez MTM for tech metal playing.   Its a rosewood/maple thru neck with mahogany wings and will primarily be in Drop B tuning.   It comes with EMG 81 bridge and 60 for the neck and i want to get far away from that EMG sound.  I need a pickup that has more low end, mids and bite to what the EMG81 currently has.

I've round it down to either the painkiller or the ceramic warpig.  What I'd like is a really tight and thick chug for Drop B open strings but without any sludge.  The same goes for single note articulation.

Am also looking for a BKP neck that can match either of these two bridge pickups for legato soloing.

appreciate anyone can that help pitch in here,

Thanks a bunch.

+1 on the painkiller, get it with double allen blots for a bit more low end aswell.

I got a Painkiller for tech metal. You should too.

The Painkiller set sounds ideal for what you are subscribing even for the neck for legato soloing. The Ceramic Magnet in the neck will do that for you.
