Changing the cover on a pickup
« on: September 04, 2009, 10:58:56 AM »
Hi all!

I wasn't too sure if this goes in the pickups area or tech area. Anyway, here's my problem:

I have a spare Miracle Man and I would like to put it in a different guitar. However, the nickel cover from the Miracle Man doesn't fit that gutiars looks at all (the guitar has black hardware). So my question is:
Is it possible to exchange the cover somehow? Is this something that can be easily done or would it be better to purchase a new pickup? Does BKP sometimes do this for customers (obviously for a fee)?
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

Hmmm... What about asking Tim directly ?

FWIW, if your pup is covered by the lifetime warranty, DONT try to remove/exchange the cover by yourself, this would (as far as I understand the terms&conditions) void the warranty.
Have: Crawlers, BGF 50/52s, Mules, ABomb, RiffRaff
Had : Slowhands (n&m), Trilogy (b)

From the site FAQs:

Quote
Can covers be added or removed from a humbucker?
We remove covers free of charge as part of our commitment to customer service so that your warranty isn't invalidated as long as the pickup is returned to us by registered mail. A cover can be added to any Bare Knuckle humbucker and we only charge the cost of the covers, fitting is free.

So it should just be the cost of the new cover and the postage.  :)
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM
