New pickup
« on: August 31, 2009, 01:15:47 AM »
I Have an Ibanez 7 string MIJ RG7421 and I play melodic Djent metal.  I know I want A painkiller in the Bridge.  But I don't know about the neck.  I never use the neck pickup alone. Only on blend with bridge for cleans or crunch.  For my heavy riffs i use bridge only.

I voted CS because I actually have both PK set & a PK/CS combo & prefer the CS neck.

However, my usage is the exact opposite to yours - I almost never use the middle selector position & prefer the neck pickup on its own for cleans & occassionally for soloing.

Calibrated painkillers are great. ( I have those).

I also have cold sweat neck and warpig bridge in another guitar so it depends what sort of tone your looking for :).
