sorry to labour this, but I truly think MIK is the new MIJ... much rather take an old MIK Tokai or Epi than the new MIC stuff... In 25 years time we will be talking about this era of Korean guitars...

but lets see where its made and the price.. if it £350 MIK, I will look silly now ;) ;)

hehe, aren't all the new epis made in china anyway?

My Epi was made in the Samik factory in Korea, and with a set of MQs it's really the dog's. At the end of the day though, if this is pretty expensive who would buy one over a Gibson Standard?

That's exactly what I was thinking. I loved my Epis, they were the last guitars I used for gigging. But since getting sucked into this BKP lark I found myself "having to" replace the LP with a Tokai and finally the SG with a Gibson - just to get a decent home for my Mules and Riff Raffs

The Epis were really nice guitars, but once I started hunting for specific tones/vibes, I found I had to try something different and ended up spending more and feeling that I got my money's worth. I now own two Gibsons (the SG and an Explorer), and I'm finding my "Fender-name-snobbery" problem is starting to take hold on Gibson guitars as well

The pics of these Epis look sweet, and I can actually live with the headstock shape, I think it's quite pretty. But if I get another Les Paul type I suspect it would be a Gibson. And although I lust over the 59 standard look I'm not sure it's worth my while buying into it - whenever I've had one, I've never felt that happy with the look when 'm wearing it... it's a bummer

Musicians Friend have it up at $899, so £550-£600ish? On a par with the other upper end Epiphone LPs with branded pickups. Might be worth it.

^ hmmmm... that doesn't sound so bad... certainly means one would have to try it if one found it on the wall at that price

But how does this price fit into the "Quantities are limited to 1,959 total" though??

(btw, I was about to type a joke about "what happened to the other 41? Did they break those while finishing?", and I just got it... "1959"... duh! Anyone else that slow?)

I wasn't far out with my total guess of £600-£700 then. Not bad considering I didn't have much of a read of the spec. Not sure if I would buy one over a Tokai (and I need to get a hardtail strat first)
I think I hate being indecisive.
