Princeton Reverb Reissue

I’ve just tried out a new Princeton Reverb Reissue, really nice clean tone.  I got in a real trance in the shop as it was so warm and sweet sounding.  By comparison the cleans on my WEM are pretty uninspiring.

Has anybody tried out a Princeton, if so how do you find it?

It's a great little amp but at £700 seems expensive for what it is.  If it was £500 I'd probably have come home with it.

My only Princeton experience was watching and listening to a guy trying out an old brownface model with a big ol' jazzbox in a second hand shop.

Easily one of the best tones I've ever heard.

I have an old blackface and they sound great.  If the reissue comes close you will be able to get a ton of tone from it.

I tried an original once. Very fun amp. Very loud and big tone for such a small thing.

Princeton Reverb, cool amp. I actually did a gig with one and it sounded great.

When I've seen Chuck Prophet he's used a BFPR too.

The RI is a good amp and quite well built, but is badly let down by the speaker, which is on the shandy side.

I've compare the RI with original BF and SF PRs and the originals do sound better.

I've got PRRI and I do love it.  Since I got it I don't play anything else at home, clean sound is just so lovely and it takes pedals very well.  Not cheap, but I dont regret it at all, in fact I have got rid of a couple of amps since getting it as they didn't sound as good in comparison.

I thought the Jensen sounded great actually although I would imagine it is at higher volumes where its shortcomings are exposed a bit more.  But at 4 on the dial it sounded sweet to me.

I think a G10 Gold might be a nice upgrade though.

I have a 1975 silverface model and it's the nicest sounding amp I've ever played (not that I am biased, of course...).
Before dropping £700 on a reissue have a look on ebay.com (not ebay.co.uk) - I bought mine there for £630 (including shipping/import tax etc).
They frequently come up for sale in the US for £600+ and are likely to go up in value and be much more amenable to servicing than the reissues.

The Jensen in the RIPR is a C10R, which has a 1" voice coil and a 10 oz magnet. This is laughably rated at 40W! 15W would probably be nearer the mark.

The stock speaker does indeed suffer as you crank the amp.

I have a RI PR in the workshop that we've tried a couple of different speakers in. A Weber 10F150 sounded really good.
