VH 11 VS THE MULE
« on: December 08, 2009, 08:16:35 PM »
I'm looking for warmth, yet something on the hot side and I'm torn between these two.  I plan on installing these in my les Paul. I guess you could say I'm looking to get that early Van Halen sound, so naturally I assumed that the VH11 would be the way to go. But after listening to sound clips, I must say that the Mule sounds damn good.  Can anyone help?  I need to get off the fence and make the purchase!!!

Here is a clip I made tonight with a Korina Lion (Feline model similar to Les Paul)
Timbers will make a difference - but it does do the Van Halen pretty well
The traditional LP would have a bit less mids and maybe a bit more top and bottom to the tone but still be fat

I know what you mean about Mules vs VH2 : tough call as the mule will sound awesome too
Maybe if you tend towards the Van Halen school the VH2 is worth a try - in the bridge position at least
