A Bunch of Questions! (because I have no clue about anything)
« on: December 24, 2009, 08:38:27 AM »
I'm going to change my pickups to bareknuckles soon, but I have no idea about what I want really besides that I like more vintage tones but I play pretty "heavy" modern music.  The guitar is a 7 string 27.5" scale 22 fret maple set neck (or neck through, I'm not sure how to tell, is this important?) with a mahogany body and an ebony fret board.  It's got a fixed tone-pro bridge and string through body.  The neck pickup currently is a Seymour Duncan 59' which sounds pretty good, it's close to what I'm looking for just not perfect.  The bridge is a JB, which sounds horribly dull to me.  It's clear and articulate but really boring.  I'm really not sure what to put in it, I like the clips from the nailbomb, rebel yell, mule, and emerald.  I'm not sure what would work in that guitar though as it's somewhat unconventional.

Also:

1) What is the 1st pole to 7th pole spacing for the seven string neck and bridge pickups?  Does it really matter, because with the current pickups my the poles on my neck humbucker are completely off the strings and it bugs me so I hope these will correct that a bit.

2) Is it possible to get a 7 string pig-90 in humbucker size?

3) Would it be bad to pair a low output neck like the mule with a high output bridge like the nailbomb?

Thanks for reading my long post  :D.

Perhaps googling for your make and model might help ?

is this important?)

It is. A going-thru maple neck will sound much more like a maple body than like whatever the sides are.

(snip a lot of questions I dont feel qualified to answer)

"bad", nope. You may have difficulties balancing them, that's all.
Have: Crawlers, BGF 50/52s, Mules, ABomb, RiffRaff
Had : Slowhands (n&m), Trilogy (b)
