Bridge Pickup - Jackson DK2.
« on: December 02, 2009, 04:07:14 PM »
Hey, I'm looking for a new bridge pickup for my DK2 as i find the JB too bright and shrill ( Is it just me?).

Body: Alder
Neck: Maple

I'm looking for a nice Djenty sound.
Any Suggestions?

Cheers,

No, it's not just you, I found the JB very nasal & thin in alder Jacksons (both bolt-on & neck-thru).

The Holy Diver is a great replacement & gives the guitar all the "chunk", "punch", power & "body" that the JB lacks.  The fat midrange really helps in a relatively bright guitar.

Having said that, it's a very warm pickup & perhaps a little rounded if you're planning to detune.  For djent, I'd give serious thought to a Nailbomb instead, or perhaps even a Painkiller (I have a Painkiller in a KV2, it's so tight & aggressive)
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)
