Pino Palladino played a musicman fretless, and they have a huge bottom end from the pickup.  I think part of the sound of Gibsons was the old Marshall set ups.  Put it through a Trace Elliott (or a Hartke like Jack Bruce was doing with his EB1), and the sound will have more definition.  Anyway, with this one having neck through, 34" scale, Fender style bridge, I don't think it will have the traditional Gibson sound!  I think that the shape and DiMarzio are the only Gibson things left.  Wez also said it was without the mud.
So many pickups, so little time

Looks cool, but I think the body could have been enlarged a little

I have no big problems with the weight of guitar... But I would ask for a 33" or 32" scale

we did consider it - but 34" is what most people are used to  and i reckon it makes sense to go with what people are used to when switching to fretless

here is the balance shot, although now i realise it looks like i am supporting it from behind with the right hand - i swear i aint :)

i now have it wired too, and it all just fits in the cavity. controls are:

6-way rotary to give-
1. Dimarzio in series
2. Dimarzio in parallel
3. Dimarzio in parallel with thunderbird in series
4. Dimarzio in parallel with thunderbird in parallel
5. Dimarzio in series with thundrbird in series
6. Thunderbird only

Master volume
Master tone
Push/pull to activate/bypass an active pre-amp circuit
Centre notched treble + - 15dB at 6kHz
Centre notched bass + - 15dB at 40Hz

need to make a cavity cover and truss rod cover.  do a set-up and decide on some knobs
